After the mediations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) elected governors, President Buhari is set to step into the political impasse threatening the soul of the party in Edo State, as he has invited Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for a chat.
Confirming the development to pressmen, a member of APC National Working Committee, said that Oshomole will today be meeting with the president at the presidential villa for a chat in order to see to the end of the protracted log jam rocking the party in the state.
The national working committee member stated that he is very much aware that the president and the party’s national chairman will meet at the Villa today. And he hopes that all the issue will be resolved.
A total of eight APC governors had met with the party’s national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, at the State House, Marina, Lagos State, to canvass their total support for Obaseki’s re-election bid. He pointed out that there will be primary elections in the state but he believes that it will be done in a way, that it will not put the governors of Edo and Ondo in a disadvantage position.
The Governors also proceeded to Abuja on Monday where they met with the National Working Committee (NWC) leaders, which is ably led by Oshiomhole. Governor Godwin Obaseki for some time now been engaged in a political tussle with Adams Oshiomhole his predecessor who also is the party’s national chairman.
As the elections in his state draws nearer, Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, on Monday, paid a courtesy call to the President, where he expressed his intentions of going for another four years tenure, as the Governor of the state on the platform of the APC.
The Governor after the meeting briefed the State House correspondents on the purpose of the visit, noting that irrespective of the fact that President Buhari is like a God father to him, he still sees the need to formally inform him of his intension to seek for a re-election.
Obaseki stated that in Edo state of today, the over whelming majority of the people wants him and his team for another tenure, because of the life changing projects, and programs his administration has implemented so far, during his tenure. And as such the electorates wants him to continue with his good work.
And also he pointed out that, during his administration he has been able to tame the high rate of human trafficking which was very prevalent in the state, and promises doing more to put a final stop to it.
He uses the opportunity to assure the family, friends and colleagues of the University of Benin student, Uwaila Omozuwa that her killers must be fished out and be made to face the full weight of the law. Describing the crime as unacceptable.
