He made this call in a statement personally signed by him. He called on the well-meaning Nigerian youths to shun all forms of violence, looting, killing, arson and burning, so as to attain their main goal which is to end police brutality and to enthrone good governance in Nigeria. He also condemned the killing of innocent and peaceful protesters at Lekki tollgate by some security operatives, as he condoled with the families of those that lost their lives.
“It is indeed very unfortunate that hoodlums have hijacked the peaceful protest that was started by well-meaning Nigerian youths to end police brutality and bad governance in Nigeria, which later led to lose of lives and properties all over the country. First of all, I wish to condole with the families of our gallant youths and security operatives that lost their loved ones during this period. I pray that the good Lord will grant them eternal rest.”
“I wish also to plead with our youths to remain peaceful and calm. To shun all form of destruction of lives and properties, looting, burning and killing. To stick to the promise made by Mr. President, Gen. Muhammad Buhari, that our voices have been heard loud and clear and that he is working towards making a good and positive change.”
“I would like also to plead with our youths to start participating actively in Nigerian politics and to get our PVCs because that’s the only tool to make a positive change and enthrone good governance. Nothing good is gotten through violence.”
