Osun: Fire razes Oja-Oba market in Osogbo


Goods and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed by an overnight Inferno that razes Oja-Oba market, Ikirun, Osun State.

It was gathered, that the fire started at about 11 pm on Friday.

The major cause of the fire has not been known as of the time of this report.

An eyewitness narrated that, the officials of the Nigeria Fire Service in Ikirun, could not reach the scene at the time of the inferno.

The fire service spokesperson in the state, Adijat Basiri, disclosed that their operatives could not reach the scene due to a “tense security situation”.

She explained that “the office tried to seek for Police to lead our men but we couldn’t secure police backup.

“There is an order for us not to go where there is tense without security backup and they always attack our men and appliance in Ikirun.

“Our men stepped down when they couldn’t get security backup. Because we can’t be recording casualties.”
