English premier league giant, Chelsea FC hosted the Paul Hechingbottom Sheffield United team today at the Stamford Bridge in the quarter-finals of the Emirates FA Cup.
Thomas Tuchel’s side was the brilliant side of the day as they yet again continued their perfect run of form under the German tactician since taking charge the helm of affairs at the Stamford Bridge.
Thomas Tuchel who remained unbeaten across all competitions since his arrival to England yet again guided the Blues to another remarkable win to progress to the last four (semi-final) of the competition.
Thomas Tuchel yet again made some tactical changes in the squad fielded against the visiting team and they were able to put up some dazzling displays in the crucial win of the day.
The game between the two sides was a bit intense as there was nothing to separate them until the 24th minutes when Chelsea was able to take the lead with an own-goal by Oliver Norwood when he put the ball into his own net, to end the first half one-nil.
In the second half of the show, none of the two sides were able to add to the tally of the game as all efforts to do so from both ends were not successful until the late minute to the end of the game.
Substitute Hakim Ziyech who scored a crucial goal in the mid-week against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA champions league was able to double the lead for the Blues in the 90+2 minutes after he was brought on for Billy Gilmour in the 72nd minutes to end the game with two goals to nil at full time.
Chelsea in the game made it their 15th FA Cup quarter-finals since the turn of the millennium – the most of any side in the competition.
With the win of the day, it means Chelsea have now reached the semi-finals for the fourth time in the last five seasons and as such extended Thomas Tuchel’s unbeaten run with another vital clean sheet.
The Thomas Tuchel side will now be looking forward to who they will play next in the semi-final having joined the likes of Manchester City and Southampton in the race for the title.
