Don Jazzy has shocked fans with the revelation that he is blood relatives with Daddy Showkey, a veteran Nigerian music star from the 90s.
The record label boss made the revelation in his latest Blackbox interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu. Surprisingly, both musical stars grew up in popular Lagos Ghetto Ajegunle.

When Ebuka asked how the upbringing influenced his music, Jazzy replied: “My parents [sheltered us from the realities of Ajegunle]. I won’t say my Ajegunle is Daddy Showkey’s Ajegunle, obviously. I don’t know how we’re related, but we’re related… My dad knows how we’re related, he’s my senior bros.”

On why they have never collaborated on a song, the ace producer shared: “When Ebuka asked why Don Jazzy and Showkey haven’t collaborated musically, Don Jazzy replies that, “It just hasn’t happened. Now that I have come back to producing, maybe… Why not? Nothing is impossible.”

Daddy Showkey credited with hits like ‘Diana’, ‘Fire Fire’, ‘Showkey’ among others. He was one of the early pioneers of Galala, a music genre also known as Ghetto music. The music genre reigned between the late 90s and early 2000s.
