Alhamdulillah Robbil Alameen!
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe!
Dear Muslim Faithfuls, I welcome you all to the Holy Month of Ramadan for the year 1442AH, which is approximately Monday, April 12th, 2021 according to the gregorian calendar.
This was contained in a statement signed by Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu Executive Chairman, Somolu Local Government on the 12th of April 2021.
The full text of his statement reads in part.
He went further to say that the month of mercy is here again for us to return to Almighty Allah with full repentance. It’s also a month of forgiveness, which has in it, an unknown special Night of Power (Laylatul Qadr) for bountiful blessings and acceptance of prayer without any intermediary. The Almighty’s injunctions for all believers is to fast from first light until sundown, abstaining from food, drink and sexual relations.
“O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may develop God-consciousness.” (Quran 2:183).
We are expected as Muslims to perform night prayers (Tahajjud), make lots of prayers (Dua), do remembrance of the Lord often (Dhikr), observe isolation of oneself in the mosque (Masjid) for full concentration (Iti’khaf), recite the Holy Quran, give to the needy and to always ensure we are in a state of purity in tandem with the outstanding teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).
The Almighty Allah has indeed granted us the enormous favour of reaching this blessed month, for many couldn’t. “So, which of the favour of your Lord would you deny?” (Quran 55:13). None!
It is very important that we use this holy month of Ramadan to pray for our dear country, Nigeria, Lagos State, Somolu and the ruling party APC to excel in all our endeavours.
As we begin this year’s fasting, I pray Almighty Allah to obviate us from every life’s challenges we may encounter, guide us to the right path and accept our fasting as an act of worship. Aamin!
