Okezie Ikpeazu-led Govt provide journalists media freedom to thrive in Abia – Okiyi Kalu


The Commissioner for Information, Abia State, Chief John Okiyi Kalu has said that Abia stayed among the safest States which has assured freedom of the media with no sort of suppression and intimidation in the authorities.

Okiyi Kalu reiterated that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led government allows for media freedom and will continue to associate with all the media in the evolution of the state.

He enjoined journalists to report growth, peace and prosperity from the State, stressing bad reports produce a bad environment that does not encourage safety.

As stated by the Abia mouthpiece, “I want you to feel responsible for the evolution of the State, since you are the channel by which individuals hear the Condition.”.

Okiyi Kalu further revealed the Governor Ikpeazu has completed several developmental projects in road infrastructure, agriculture, commerce and trade, SME growth, safety amongst others and highlighted the need for publicising those strides rather than pushing for negative reports.

The Abia Commissioner asserted the Governor might not have done what there is to do, however, he’s achieved what no other government in Abia nation has attained.

While enjoying the cordial relationship that’s been present between his office and the NUJ, Ememanka promised journalists of the constant support of the actions as he enjoined them to maintain the pace in publicising Governor Ikpeazu’s giant strides in the Condition.
