Team Nigeria’s preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics has hit high gear as 16 athletes yesterday departed the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos for Texas where they will get involved in relay Qualifiers.

It will be remembered that the team missed out on the World Relays in Poland due to visa hitches.

Contrary to a report that claimed the team was stranded, you can see it is not correct.

“You can see them inside their new kits courtesy of the Minister of athletics that did everything to make the trip a reality. The team does not have any financial issues.

“Team Nigeria Olympic prep is on track. That is evident in what we are seeing. The advance party went forward to fine-tune all structures.

“This really is a mark of devotion on the part of the Minister to ensure a hitch-free event and podium success in Tokyo”

Team Nigeria would get involved in the initial relay on May 12.
