Pat Utomi: Some Bad Politicians Need to be Eliminated for a better Nigeria

Mr. Pat Utomi has suggested that the political system needs to be overhauled because some nefarious politicians remain in control, threatening to break up the country and its wealth.

“It is very sad in many dimensions,” he says. There is the immediate danger of the loss of life, as well as the severe mental stress that it causes people.

Many Nigerians don’t know what will happen next minute is possibly a fate as bad as death, but it has expressed itself in the form of a threat to the country’s food security.

Lots of people are unable to freely visit their farms, which means that food inflation of over 20% is unsurprising.

It means that raw material supply into manufacturing will be impacted, which means that more people will lose their jobs in a country where unemployment is already at 43%, with youth unemployment above 45%.”

So, these are really concerning signs, but it’s even more tragic that the security problems might have been avoided if we hadn’t allowed ourselves to go in this direction.

Unfortunately, a majority of political apparatus motivated by narcissism has made our politics one of shallow thinking and rather short-term orientation, rather than one of deep thinking and long-term orientation.

We allowed these problems to worsen, hoping and deceiving ourselves that they will get better, but they have now escalated to the point where they endanger our lives and safety.

If things continue as they are, we can wake up tomorrow to find the insurgents in Aso Rock waving the Boko Haram flag.”

All of these things were expected, but our eyes were blindfolded to them due to corruption. We’ve also inadvertently helped to bring the situation to its current state.
