Vice President Osinbajo expresses shock over the death of Chief of Army staff and others in Friday’s air crash

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has noticed the passing of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru as well as many others in Friday’s air crash Indicates the thickness of sacrifice of their army.

Expressing shock and despair in the incident, Osinbajo stated in a statement issued by his spokesman, Laolu Akande, on Saturday that”their death while in active service in the defence of the nation reflects the depth of sacrifice our army officers, women and men of the other positions are often ready to create.”

The announcement quoted the Vice President as saying: “I received with fantastic sadness the news of an aviation accident between the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, along with other officers of the Nigerian army yesterday.

“Their death while in active service in the protection of the nation reflects the depth of sacrifice our army officers, women and men of the other positions are usually ready to make. We honour the support of the Army Chief and most of those included with this unfortunate accident as we continue to show our deep appreciation to all within our military services and in harm’s way. The gallantry of these personalities would always be recalled.

“I combine the President and Commander in Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces to commiserate together with families, friends and coworkers of those gallant officers and people who perished in the crash. I hope that God grants them the fortitude to endure the loss. May the memories of those deceased stays blessed.”
