The former US President, Donald Trump has congratulated the Federal Government for taking the initiative to suspend Twitter in Nigeria after the Social Media platform banned a tweet made by President Buhari.
Trump also called on other countries to go ahead and ban Twitter along with Facebook for not allowing free and open speech, noting that he should have taken that step when he was in the White House, but that Zuckerberg persuaded him not to.
Reporters from several News outlets went ahead to post the statements made by Trump on Twitter since Trump himself was banned from Twitter and Facebook with regards to the deadly attack at the U.S. Capitol by his supporters on January 6th
The former US President’s congratulatory message comes days after Nigeria suspended Twitter indefinitely on Friday, June 4th
The Nigerian government made the decision after Twitter deleted a tweet made by Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, for violating its abusive behavior policy and several calls by Nigerians to take it down.
