The House of Representatives has announced Plans to scrap the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) program
The bill which proposed the scrapping of the NYSC program as sponsored by the lawmaker, Awaji-Inombek Abiante has scaled second reading, generating mixed reactions.
However, Yemi Adaramodu, the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Youth, speaking at the official unveiling of nine books on NYSC and the maiden NYSC film in commemoration of the 48th anniversary of the scheme yesterday, Thursday, June 10, said there is no plan to scrap the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC).
The Chairman described the NYSC program as the most successful national program for facilitating Nigeria’s unity.
According to him, he said;
“Anybody is free to sponsor a bill, but the speaker and the rest of the house believe that the program has come to stay in the country.
“The scheme is going nowhere and it is not the plan of the National Assembly to scrap it. I want to let you know that we’re with you and for you. We’re full with you, we’re together.”
