I want to congratulate all Nigerians for the success recorded so far in our democratic journey. I would like also to commend our President, President Mohammed Buhari for officially recognizing June 12 as the Nation’s Democratic Day in loving memory of M.K.O Abiola, who paid the supreme prize for this participatory government we enjoy today.
As we celebrate, let us not forget the struggles of our past heroes who have labored so much for this democratic system of governance. We should also appreciate the strength and contributions of the various ethnic nationalities to our country.
I would like also to call on our youths to rise up and defend our country’s democratic processes. The youths are the future leaders and nation builders, and those who stand to benefit most if our democracy flourishes.
I wish also to commend our government at all levels for their efforts so far in tackling security challenges facing our country. As I encourage them to do more because for a true democracy to be effective, there must be proper security of lives and properties.
In whatever circumstance we find ourselves, we must continue to exercise democratic tenets which promote peace, freedom, and respect for one another.
Finally, let our main focus be the search for solutions to the enormous problems confronting us as a nation and hindering our democratic process from getting to an enviable height
