As the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kwara State Council marks the Golden Jubilee anniversary of its existence in the State, immediate past Chairman of the state council, Umar Abdulwahab wants practicing Journalists to embrace developmental journalism.

Abdulwahab made the call during the 50th anniversary of the Union in Ilorin the Kwara State capital where some selected Journalists were recognized and honored for their contribution to the media industry.

He said developmental journalism will be a good avenue to hold government at all levels accountable and keep all those in power on their toes to bring about the country’s positive development.

One of the recognized awardees is AIT Correspondent in the State, Olufemi Akobi who received an award as the Political Reporter of the year, and others who said the recognition will go a long way in discharging their duties.

It is hoped that the recognized practicing journalists and others will embrace developmental journalism to keep political office holders in check to ensure the speedy development of the Nation.
