On Monday, this information was made public through the release of a statement that was signed by the NANS Coordinator and Spokesperson, Adegboye Olatunji, and Awoyinfa Opeoluwa, respectively.

The student body reported that they planned to return to protesting on the streets in the following days.

A portion of the statement read as follows: “It behooves us to attract the attention of the general public and the world community on the flagrant insult meted out to the Nigerian students by the reckless administration of Buhari.

“We encourage Nigerian students to be ready for a large-scale mass action over the ASUU strike,” said the organization. It is quite evident to us that this administration is hostile to the public education system, which goes against the hopes and dreams of millions of children, adolescents, and young adults.

The message came to a close by saying, “In the following days, we shall be occupying the streets across the South-West region to execute the last funeral ritual of public education in the country as this is what Buhari’s government symbolizes.”
