Aisha Buhari, governors’ wives rally for Tinubu, Shettima in Ilorin

Aisha Buhari, the first lady, and the spouses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors descended on Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, on Thursday to launch their mobilization for Senator Kashim Shettima and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate.

Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq praised the candidate as the greatest for Nigeria at the Ilorin event, where Dr. Binta Edu, the leader of the APC’s women, claimed women would give Tinubu and Shettima 40 million votes.

Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Mrs. Nana Shettima, Senators Lola Ashiru (Kwara South), Sadiq Umar (North), Raheem Olawuyi Ajuloopin of the House of Representatives, Turaki Salihu Mustapha of the Kwara Central APC, Speaker Salihu Yakubu-Danladi of the House of Assembly, and other lawmakers were also present

Due to its stance on gender equity and women’s empowerment, AbdulRazaq claimed that Kwara was an uncommon choice for the flag-off.

He stated, “Your Excellencies, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, our support for Asiwaju Tinubu is not because he is faultless. Our support for Asiwaju stems from his demonstrably strong track record as a people person who can build on the successes of the present, promote inclusive progress, and guide our nation toward greater prosperity.

“Asiwaju possesses the relevant expertise. He possesses the temperament. Additionally, he has the network needed to strengthen and unite our nation. The Asiwaju Tinubu/Shettima presidential ticket is without a doubt the most seasoned and progressive combo up for election in 2023 based on their prior accomplishments.

Being proponents of gender equality, we’ll cooperate with Asiwaju to make sure that Nigerian women’s rights and benefits are completely upheld.

“As the leading state for gender inclusion and empowerment in Nigeria, I assure you of our dedication to ensuring that women always have adequate seats at the table when decisions about pressing social issues are made.

“Here on point, I appeal to the people of Nigeria, especially our women, to support the APC in the next elections for lasting development and steadily defeating the forces of evil.”

The APC’s campaign rhetoric, according to the First Lady, would be free of hate speech and anything else that can undermine Nigeria’s unity.

The Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Committee, she continued, “has evolved into a movement and demonstrated to be the game changer leading to door-to-door and victory for the APC in 2015. The same achievement was replicated in 2019.

Women and young people are gathered here in large numbers, ready to approach you for your vote from man to man or woman to woman, house to house, or door to door.

“Women utilized their numbers to demonstrate their strengths, devotion, and choice of the APC in 2019, which is how the achievement was accomplished. By the Grace of God, the same accomplishment will be noted in 2023.

“The future of women is secure under APC, and APC is making progress in the area of women’s empowerment. Since the party has made significant progress in the fields of health, educational empowerment, and road building, including the second Niger Bridge, women will vote for it.

The foundation of the APC is based on mutual respect, tolerance, and understanding. Contrary to the hateful individuals who do not want Nigeria’s success, our campaign is free of such language.

With the exception of dedication, mobilization, and reinforcing our solidarity, our campaign is full of gentle statements; there are no hateful remarks or character assassinations.

“As a woman, mother, and grandmother, I counsel APC women in Nigeria to continue the campaign with a feeling of duty, dedication, and togetherness for the success of the party.”

Coming to Kwara State provides me the certainty of a country that is more cohesive, productive, and peaceful all across our borders during the Tinubu/Shettima government, said Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

“We, the spouses, pledge our unwavering support for you. We will support our husbands in their efforts to help the less fortunate and jobless youngsters by fostering entrepreneurial abilities, and we will do all in our power to guarantee that we all live in harmony despite our differences in ancestry and religion.

Ambassador Olufolake AbdulRazaq, the wife of the governor of Kwara State, vowed her whole dedication to leading the women’s campaign to rally voters throughout the state.
