2023: Recent polling places Peter Obi leads

With regard to the upcoming 2023 presidential election, a recent survey conducted by Market Trends International (MTI) has put Peter Obi, the candidate for the Labour Party, ahead of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), among others.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by MTI’s Executive Director, Victor Ebhomenye, 44% of respondents said they would support the Labour Party candidate in the upcoming presidential election, giving the former governor of Anambra State the highest favorable rating to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Peter Obi has gained ground in the race since he announced his intention to run for president with the Labour Party at the party’s national convention and presidential primary on Monday, May 30, in Asaba, the capital of Delta State, after other contenders like former presidential adviser Professor Pat Utomi, Faduri Joseph, and Olubusola Emmanuel-Tella, resigned.

“With Mr. Obi’s emergence, the party may receive boosts to achieve long-term alliance negotiations with the New Nigeria Peoples Party- NNPP (this alliance is rumored to have collapsed at the moment); Zenith Labour Party (ZLP); Allied Peoples Movement (APM); National Rescue Movement (NRM); Peoples Redemption Party (PRP); and African Democratic Congress (ADC), among others, before the February 2023 presidential election.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and its primary rival, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), were prevented from controlling the 2019 elections by the planned partnership, according to Ebhomenye.

An earlier survey from December 2022 predicted Obi would win.

According to the poll done by NOI Polls Limited on Anap Foundation’s behalf, Obi is in the lead over the other three front-runners.
