Arsenal has announced a new contract. Seun Kuti, an afrobeat singer, was released on bail from the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti, Lagos, on Tuesday night.
According to reports, his attorney, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, SAN, revealed the information in a phone interview on Tuesday night.
“Yes, eun Kuti was released just minutes ago,” he confirmed.
It was previously reported that the Afrobeat musician could be released today (Tuesday) after his remand in police custody expired.
The Chief Magistrate extended Kuti’s remand until May 23, according to court records.
According to the document, the Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State accepted the police’s request for an extension of Seun Kuti’s custody until Tuesday (today) so that they could complete their investigation and obtain the opinion of the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
The police had informed the court that the initial two-day remand extension was insufficient to allow them to complete their investigation.
In response to the police’s request, the magistrate stated, “I will grant the extension.” “Matter adjourned to May 23, 2023, for DPP advice,” according to a document obtained exclusively by our correspondent on Monday.
Meanwhile, the musician’s legal counsel, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, SAN, told the Punch that his client’s (Seun Kuti’s) bail conditions were met last Thursday.
According to reports, police lawyers went to court on Thursday to request a remand extension without informing the musician’s legal counsel.
“On Thursday, the police lawyers appeared in court without informing Seun’s lawyers.” When the case was called for hearing, a young lawyer in the audience pleaded with the magistrate to adjourn it for about five minutes so that Seun Kuti’s legal counsel, Olumide-Fusika, SAN, who had rushed down from Ikeja, could arrive.
“But the magistrate refused, and Seun’s detention was extended until Monday,” a source close to the situation told our correspondent on Thursday.

According to our source, the application was made by the lead counsel for the police, Simon Lough, SAN, who stated that the extension was necessary to allow for further investigation into the case.
Seun Kuti’s bail conditions have been met, according to his lawyer.
Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, SAN, noted that the musician’s bail conditions had been met during an interview with our correspondent, while implying that the court’s decision for the four-day remand extension would be respected.
“There is no comment on the four-day extension,” Olumide-Fusika said. We’ll have to wait and see what the court decides.
