According to Mrs. Aisha Buhari, the First Lady of Nigeria, women’s views must be heard loud and clear in the political environment of 2023.
When he opened the 22nd National Women’s Conference in Lagos, which was sponsored by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials and had as its theme “Spring Forth, Stand Out,” Buhari made this declaration (COWLSO).

She urged women to unite and support candidates for office who have demonstrated a desire to make Nigeria a larger nation. In order to promote women’s participation in politics and the economy, the First Lady encouraged them to register as voters and receive their Permanent Voters Cards. She also encouraged women to participate in the conference online (PVCs).
Women must obtain their PVCs, in her opinion, as it is still the best route to political leadership in Nigeria. “The theme of this conference is a wake-up call to all women, especially in politics and government. Particularly during this current era, women must band together and shine more.
“As women, we must strengthen our worth and capacity for leadership; we must research ways to reassure Nigeria and Nigerians that women are capable of participating in politics and being elected as our leaders for greater progress.
We must register to vote and compile our voter’s cards if we want to make our opinions heard. In Nigeria’s leadership, our card serves as our voice. To increase our involvement in politics and the economy, we must mobilize and plan more.
“Let’s work together to elect leaders that have a clear mission and vision for a better Nigeria. We are the mothers of this country. In the 2023 election cycle, I have no doubt that women’s voices will be heard clearly and loudly.

By avoiding violence and criminal activity, Buhari urged women and young people to uphold the principles of democracy. She urged the abolition of detrimental cultural customs that restrict women and girls from inheriting from their fathers.
“We give God praise for appointing governors who are thoughtful and reasonable and who respect the right of women to speak up in society. The first lady remarked that it would be admirable for Nigeria to imitate her in eliminating such damaging cultural customs.
She praised COWLSO for instituting the annual conference as a venue for the advancement of women and their participation in governance and the economy under the direction of Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the wife of the governor of Lagos State.
The COWLSO initiative, in her opinion, is a blatant example of the distinctive power and spirit of Lagos women. She also praised Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the South-West Governors for enabling women to participate in politics and government and for giving them a voice.
