DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the event on Friday, saying the victim died as a result of the burns she received.

According to The PUNCH, officers from the Ogun State Police Command have arrested Kehinde Wasiu, a 32-year-old housewife and mother of three, for reportedly pouring petrol on her husband’s 24-year-old mistress, Tosin Olugbade, and then setting her ablaze.

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the event on Friday, saying the victim died as a result of the burns she received.

According to a statement released by Oyeyemi on Friday, the suspect was apprehended after the deceased’s spouse, Fatai Olugbade, filed a report at the Onipanu divisional headquarters.

According to reports, Olugbade told police that his wife had an extramarital affair with one Ismail Wasiu sometime in August 2021.

According to the PPRO, Olugbade expressed surprise that his wife had packed her belongings and moved in with Ismail.

“On the 14th of November 2021, he learned that Ismail Wasiu’s wife had a quarrel with his wife, and the said Ismail’s wife poured petrol on her and set her flame,” Oyeyemi continued.

“Her family members rushed her to the hospital, but she later passed away while undergoing treatment.” Following the complaint, CSP Bamidele Job, DPO, Onipanu Division, Ota, swiftly gathered his men and proceeded to the location, where the husband of Kehinde, who had asked his wife to flee, was apprehended.
