Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, the embattled national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has drawn criticism for his decision to appeal Chris Ogbu’s victory in the Ideato South House of Assembly race to the Supreme Court.
Ikenga Ugochinyere, a PDP candidate for the House of Representatives in Imo State’s Ideato North South Constituency, criticized Ayu’s choice and called it inflammatory.
The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) spokeswoman, Ugochinyere, called the court action provocative with repercussions statement.
He said he was seeking petty vengeance on Ogbu for contesting his ongoing status as party chairman while taking a shot at Ayu.
Additionally, he claimed that Ayu enjoys scheming against the party candidates running against him in elections.
“Ayu is a political traitor, and it is wasteful for him to be PDP National Chairman.” I can’t remember what Ogbu did to him, but he’s the legitimate winner and candidate for the Ideato South constituency in the Imo House of Assembly. Ogbu sued Ayu for corruption and abuse of office, and now Ayu has filed a lawsuit to challenge Ogbu’s election.

“I find it alarming that a man whose house is on fire is busily escalating the fire rather than trying to put it out.
This is not the first time he has done this; he enjoys scheming to defeat the candidates from his rival party in the upcoming election.
Remember that two months ago, Ayu openly claimed that he has the authority to prevent Samuel Ortom, the governor of Benue State, from achieving his goal of running for the Senate on the party platform. The CUPP spokesman stated in a statement on Thursday that Ortom offence was simply and correctly calling for Ayu’s resignation as the party’s chairman as the best solution to bring calm to the biggest opposition party.
