In a statement released on Tuesday by his media advisor, Malam Garba Shehu, President Buhari stated that the incident was a stark reminder of the ongoing threat of improper handling of weapons and a wakeup call to law enforcement agencies, including the police, to ensure the full implementation of reforms instituted by the administration on the subject of improper handling of weapons as well as the protection of citizens’ rights.

“The country stands in sympathy with the grieving family and the NBA during this hour of sadness. Justice will be served in this matter, I can guarantee you of that, the President remarked.
