Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has described ace actor, Chief Pete Edochie, as a living legend and an icon of the Nigerian movies industry.

Governor Ikpeazu spoke on Sunday, on the heels of the 74th birthday of the celebrated Nigeria actor.

The Governor stated that Pete Edochie has used the platform of movies to solidify his place as considered one of Nigeria’s best actors, using movies as a powerful instrument of social engineering, societal reorientation and cultural revival.

His phrases, “Within the 1980s, I watched Pete Edochie for the first time in a film. It was the adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s book, THINGS FALL APART on NTA, where he played the role of the book’s protagonist, OKONKWO. In powerfully playing that role and completely personifying Achebe’s Okonkwo, Pete walked himself into the mainstream of the Nigerian film industry. Since then and until date, he has cemented his place within the First Eleven of the movie’s world in our nation.”

Continuing, Ikpeazu said, “by the varied roles he has performed through the years within the numerous number of movies he has featured in, Pete Edochie has become a powerful symbol of social engineering and value reorientation. Above all, he has proven that it’s possible to excel in any chosen career through sheer grit, hard work, dedication and tenacity. He has grown to become a colossus within the business with an unmistakable commanding presence in our movies “.

He further stated Pete Edochie has inspired many young Nigerians to seek a profession path within the movie industry, thus becoming a living spring of inspiration for many.

Governor Ikpeazu on behalf of the government and people of Abia State wished Chief Pete Edochie a really happy 74th birthday and prayed the Almighty God to grant him many more years of service within the Nigerian movie industry.
