On Monday, a Makurdi High Court granted an ex-parte application seeking an interim injunction to prevent Mr. Lyorchia Ayu from misrepresenting himself as the People’s Democratic Party’s National Chairman (PDP).
Mr. Conrad Utaan, the party’s Igyorov Ward Chairman in the Gboko Local Government Area of Benue, brought Ayu before the court.
The PDP has also joined the conversation.
Ayu is being accused of anti-party activities by the Ward officials.
Utaan’s main request was for a temporary injunction to prevent Ayu from misrepresenting himself as the PDP’s national chairman after the Ward expelled him from the organization.

They request that he refrain from attending the event until the hearing and conclusion of the already filed Motion on Notice.
The application was backed up by a 15-paragraph affidavit with three exhibits identified as Exhibits A1, A2, and B attached.
The applicant’s PDP membership card, receipts for dues payments, and a vote of no confidence against Ayu by the PDP Executive Council members of Igyorov Ward in Gboko Local Government, Benue, are among the exhibits.
In a written statement submitted to the court, the applicant’s attorney, Mr. Mike Assoh, requested that the court prevent Ayu from misrepresenting himself as the PDP’s national chairman while the motion for his suspension is being heard and decided.
Justice W.I. Kpochi, the presiding judge, ruled that it was appropriate to grant the interim injunction as requested after taking into account the collection of affidavits in front of the court and the issues condensed in the written address by the applicant’s counsel.
The hearing in the case was postponed until April 17, 2023.
