Doyin Okupe, a leader of the Labour Party (LP), has responded to the fact that he has been replaced as the director general (DG) of the Obi-Datti presidential campaign committee (PCC).
Akin Osuntokun, a former presidential adviser, was previously rumored to have been named the new director general of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council.
After being found guilty of breaking the Money Laundering Act on December 19, 2022, by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of a Federal High Court in Abuja, Okupe resigned last week on his own volition.

Okupe resigned on his own accord last week after he was convicted by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of a Federal High Court in Abuja on December 19, 2022, for violating the Money Laundering Act.
The court said Okupe was guilty of receiving over N200 million cash from former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.
In counts 34, 35, 36, and 59, the court found Okupe guilty, and he was given a sentence of two years in jail with the possibility of a fine.

Okupe responds
Doyin Okupe expressed her happiness at Akin Osuntokun’s appointment as the new DG in a post that was published on Twitter.
According to Doyin, Oshuntokun has been a steadfast supporter of Peter Obi’s presidential aspirations.
He wrote: “I received the news of Prof Akin Oshuntokun’s nomination as the new DG of the LP Obi-Baba Ahmed campaign organization. Prof Akin is a strong friend, ally, and confidant of mine. Oshuntokun has been a dedicated and founding member of this wonderful movement from the beginning. I hope he does well.
