The catholic diocese issued a suspension order to Father Mbaka after consultations, prohibiting him from performing official catholic church functions under the diocese but allowing him to continue his adoration ministry activities.

Father Mbaka’s suspension will begin on May 3rd, 2021, and will last for one month.

Father Mbaka was said to have remained in the diocese for some time, prompting his supporters to protest and ruin diocese property in order to secure the priest’s release.

On Wednesday, May 5th, 2021, Father Mbaka reappeared and returned to the Adoration Ministry grounds, inciting his already enraged followers against the Catholic Bishop of Enugu State, accusing him of conspiring with politicians against him.

As of the time of publication, it has not been able to confirm Father Mbaka’s suspension, despite repeated calls to the Bishop has not been successful.

Father Mbaka, who campaigned fervently for Buhari in 2015 and 2019, also referring to him as Nigeria’s political messiah, has recently increased his vehement criticism of the Nigerian president, accusing him of nepotism and colossal bad leadership.

These criticisms sparked a back-and-forth between the cleric and President Buhari’s aides, resulting in a war of words.
