Members of Staff and students of Mass Communication at the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State have embarked on a campaign against the increasing rate of drug abuse, among Nigerians.

Speaking during the campaign under the theme: “drug abuse kills, save your life and shun the act” the coordinator of the campaign, Chucks Okojie, the Head of the Mass Communication department.

Also, Wole Alawode, and others said the constant youth involvement in drug abuse prompted the campaign, designed to raise awareness on the dangers of the act.

Some of the Mass communications students of the Federal Polytechnic Offa in Kwara State who trooped out in their numbers to participate in the fight against drug abuse were seen displaying various placards with inscriptions like the best me is drug-free.

Peer influence on drug abuse is real, stop it, drug abuse is hazardous, drug abuse is venom, it kills slowly, and so on.

The coordinator of the campaign, Chucks Okojie, the Deputy Registrar of the Polytechnic, Augustin Adama, and others attributed the development to corruption in the system and called on religious leaders, politicians, and other stakeholders to lead the campaign against drug abuse.

Some of the students who participated in the campaign speak against drug abuse in Nigeria.

All hands according to participants must be on deck to address the evil of drug abuse among Nigerian youths to guarantee a safe society.
