Flying Eagles to play Zambia’s U20 squad in two friendlies in Abuja
The Nigerian Flying Eagles, who have won the African championship seven times, will play their Zambian opponents in two friendly matches in Abuja in advance of this year’s Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
Following a request letter from the Nigerian Football Federation on January 13 and prompt approval from the Football Association of Zambia, the tour has now been completed.
Adrian Kashala, the general secretary of FAZ, stated that the Zambian football governing body was in favor of the proposal in a letter dated January 14, 2023. The Junior Chipolopolo will be flown to Nigeria as part of the proposed tour, and the NFF will pay for the Zambian delegation’s lodging, meals, and other logistical needs.
The two games will be played on January 27th and January 30th, 2023, respectively.
Free-scoring Since returning to camp after the holiday break, the Flying Eagles have scored a total of 10 goals in two friendlies, the most recent of which was a 5-1 thrashing of Galadima FC on Wednesday in Abuja.

The Flying Eagles, who won the WAFU B U20 Championship in Niger Republic in May 2022, have been drawn to compete in Group A of the Africa U20 Cup of Nations, which runs from February 19 through March 11, this year, against Egypt, Senegal, and Mozambique.
2017 Africa U20 Cup of Nations champions Zambia advanced to the quarterfinals of the FIFA U20 World Cup in Korea Republic before falling to Italy in Suwon after extra time.
Zambia will compete in Group C in Egypt alongside Tunisia, The Gambia, and Benin Republic, while Group B in Egypt features Uganda, Central African Republic, South Sudan, and Congo.
All four Egyptian semifinalists will earn the right to represent Africa at the 23rd FIFA U20 World Cup finals, which will take place in Indonesia from May 20 to June 11, 2018.
