Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has pledges his support for Tinubu’s administration
Former British Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair has stated his willingness to assist Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s incoming administration in achieving success.
According to a press statement issued by the President-elect’s office, Blair made the commitment on Tuesday when he visited the president-elect at the Defence House in Abuja.
He stated that the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, which he founded, would be a willing partner of the Tinubu administration, particularly in prioritising and delivering on its goals.
He stated that since leaving office as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, he has been working with governments all over the world to assist them in carrying out their mandates.
According to him, the Blair Institute has a project in Nigeria and he felt it was his responsibility to meet with Nigeria’s incoming president to learn about the administration’s priorities.
“We would like to assist you in any way we can with your administration.” “All we need to know is what the leadership priorities are and how to make them a reality,” Blair told President-elect Tinubu.
He praised Tinubu’s campaign focus on key areas such as security, economy, agriculture, and power, describing their interdependence as critical to the development of any society.
He expressed hope that, with investors’ eagerness to invest in Nigeria, the Tinubu administration would receive the backing it requires to spur economic development in the country.
Blair, on the other hand, acknowledged Tinubu and other leaders’ difficult task at a time of global turmoil.
“Today, being in government anywhere in the world is difficult. “There are things going on around the world that affect you but you can’t do much about,” he explained.
President-elect Tinubu responded by thanking Blair for his visit and offering to work with his administration.

He spoke of his and Tony Blair Institute’s shared vision in their priority areas, but emphasised the importance of addressing investment challenges and the need for social investment to combat poverty.
“Yes, we are tested. But where is our bravery? In Africa, we can eradicate ignorance, diseases, and poverty. Tinubu stated, “We must work hard to ensure that democracy works for our people.”
“We need to invest more, put technology in place, and keep terrorists at bay because there is no guarantee that investors will come,” he added.
The president-elect promised to create an environment that would attract investors and provide opportunities for the people.
Tinibu was accompanied to the meeting by House Speaker, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima; member of Tinubu Transition Team, Mr. Wale Edun; former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Chairman, Malam Nuhu Ribadu; Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Adetokunbo Abiru; and Executive Secretary, National Sugar Development Council, Mr. Zacch Adedeji.
