Gernot Rohr, the coach of the Super Eagles, has stated that the team would train in Nigeria ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria is in Group D with Egypt, Guinea Bissau, and Sudan, and Rohr hopes to start camping on December 28, with the Eagles facing Egypt in their first game in Garoua on January 11.

Rohr, whose job as coach of the Eagles is in jeopardy after leading them to the playoff stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, wants to play one friendly game before the event.

He also mentioned that he might not be able to attend the competition.

“My idea is for the squad to train in Nigeria in December and then play a friendly there before flying to Cameroon early in January, where we will have excellent conditions to prepare in Garoua, where our team will be playing.”

“We’ll be really well-prepared.” We must be prepared for the opening encounter against Egypt, which will take place in Garoua.”

“But let’s see whether I can still determine whether or not we should prepare.” “We’ll see.”

In the 54 games, he has coached the squad, Rohr has 28 victories, 13 draws, and 13 losses. He is now due two months’ salary by the Nigerian Football Federation.

In addition, he led the Eagles to a bronze medal in the most recent AFCON.
