Gunmen kill an officer of the NSCDC in Ekiti.

An officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) was slain by people thought to be kidnappers on the Oke Ako-Ajowa Road in the Ajoni Local Council Development Area of the state of Ekiti.

The man was reportedly heading from Ado-Ekiti to his hometown when he was ambushed in his car and killed on Saturday night.

His siblings, who were in the car with him, as well as two children, were reportedly kidnapped by the armed criminals.

Sources said the gunmen whisked away two persons whose identities they could not ascertain, while another occupant of the vehicle escaped from being kidnapped.

Newsreal Africa,  however, gathered that hunters in the community and neighboring villages had started combing the bush to free the captives and possibly arrest the gunmen.

“Those being held hostage are still there in the forest with them as I speak with you. In the automobile, the NSCDC officer was shot and killed.

Other people were abducted; some claim two of the gunmen’s companions were taken, while others claim three. To the best of my knowledge, the kidnappers have not yet made contact or demanded a ransom, according to one of the local sources.

A member of the Oke Ako community who was on a motorbike at the time of the event, the source continued, almost averted death when the gunmen fired rounds at him.

According to Princess Tinuade Ogunbiyi, the Regent of Oke Ako, a person was shot dead on the street and other individuals were abducted.

The regent remarked, “I’m not sure precisely what occurred yet, but I’m at a loss for words. Every day, the same thing keeps happening. I don’t know what to say.

The incidence was confirmed by Tolu Afolabi, NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command.

“One of our officers died. Unconfirmed rumors claim that two of his brothers were kidnapped, and we were told that he was shot while traveling to the town. We still need trustworthy information.

The probe into the state leadership will start this evening, in the meantime. the authorities are waiting  for me information as investigation is ongoing.
