In Lokoja, gunmen kill two police officers on patrol

On Wednesday, the Nigerian police announced the deaths of two of their employees who had been shot and killed in Kogi State by as-yet-unidentified assailants.

According to SP William Aya, the State Police Public Relations Officer, who corroborated the report, the cops were slain in an attack on Wednesday morning.

However, Aya withheld the names of the police officers and claimed that the command was already pursuing the attackers.

He claims, “The Command got the regrettable report of an attack on the Police patrol team along Agbaja road, Lokoja, today, 21 December 2022. When the crew arrived for their normal patrol, the thugs sprung out of the bushes and attacked them.
However, the hoodlums left before the reinforcement squad came, so the Command lost two of its people in the gunfight with them.

“The Kogi State Police Command’s Commissioner of Police, CP Akeem A. Yusuf, psc (+), fdc, promptly sent a team of tactical operatives to the area while trailing the criminals in order to capture and prosecute them.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police for Probe has also been given the go-ahead to start an investigation into the incident.

The police chief also uses this platform to appeal to the locals for reliable information about the hoodlums’ identities so that the command can put a stop to their illegal activity.
