Ungwan Maje and Ungwan Laka villages in Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government Area were attacked by bandits, who killed a police officer and kidnapped 23 residents.
Wednesday morning, September 8, the bandits stormed the villages and opened fire on the residents who were still sleeping. Witnesses told Channels Television the gunmen first attacked Ungwan Maje, where they abducted 16 people, according to eyewitness accounts.
There are a lot of women and kids, their next stop was a mobile police officer named Inspector Yahaya Joshua Markus, where they killed him and kidnapped him, his wife, and two children.
As far as was known, the officer had just returned from Rivers State Command, where he served, to visit his family when he was shot dead.
The bandit set fire to and destroyed the victims’ property.
Aruwan Sanuma, a resident of Ungwan Laka and retired military personnel, narrowly escaped. The hoodlums, on the other hand, set fire to his car and motorcycle.
Mr. Mohammed Jalige, the Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson, confirmed the kidnapping and said security personnel had been dispatched to apprehend the intruders in order to free the kidnapped victims.
