On Thursday, Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Yusuf swore in 45 Special Advisers who had been vetted and approved by the State House of Assembly.
After the swearing-in, Yusuf addressed the newly appointed individuals and stated that their selection was in keeping with the requirement to enlist more creative individuals for the efficient conduct of government operations.
He explained that these were appointments made based on merit, commitment, loyalty, and anticipation that they will actively participate in and positively contribute to advancing Kano State.
In order to defend the interests of the state’s good citizens and to ensure that the promises made to the electorates during the campaign time are kept, the governor stated they must be diligent in the performance of their duties.
In order to ensure that government plans and programs are coordinated smoothly and in accordance with established norms, he informed the special advisers that they are expected to provide meaningful counsel on pertinent problems and communicate with other public office holders and civil officials.
However, he exhorted the public employees to get busy, adding, “As the heart of implementing government programs, civil servants ought to be devoted, dedicated, and give selfless devotion towards developing our precious state, and to serve the people conscientiously.
“Although we try our best to pay salaries and other entitlements, we as a government would not condone truancy, laxity, or other lukewarm attitudes harmful to the effective delivery of services.”
