Most positive player’: National media hails 22-year-old Chelsea youngster’s display for his country

Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher received big praise in the national media after his individual performance for England on Saturday.

Gallagher, 22, earned his second England cap this evening during the 2-1 win against Switzerland.

The Blues midfielder, who’s enjoying a superb season-long loan spell at rivals Crystal Palace, showed what he could do on the international stage at the weekend.

He assisted Luke Shaw’s equaliser during the victory in a friendly match at Wembley Stadium, and really caught the eye during his hour on the pitch before being substituted off with numerous teammates.

Sky Sports awarded Gallagher a very strong 8/10 match rating for his England display. The Chelsea loanee received the joint-highest rating alongside Three Lions goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who made some notable saves.

Full of energy on his first start for England, running beyond the forwards. Had a decent effort blocked and then provided the assist for Shaw’s equalising goal. His pass through to Harry Kane for a chance in the second half was even better. England’s most positive player before coming off after an hour,” Sky Sports wrote.

Gallagher’s barely putting a foot wrong when he steps on to the pitch this season, whether that be for club or country.

His form at Selhurst Park with Palace has the Chelsea fanbase desperate for him to join their squad next season when his loan expires.

The non-stop midfielder shows on a weekly basis in the Premier League his talent, but it would be another step if Thomas Tuchel integrates him into the squad at Stamford Bridge.
