Senator Godswill Akpabio, a former minister for the Niger Delta, claims that his accomplishments and track record will entitle him to the Senate Presidency in the tenth National Assembly.
According to reports, Akpabio made this statement on Tuesday while paying a visit to Bola Tinubu’s home in the Asokoro neighborhood of Abuja.
The former governor of Akwa Ibom claimed that because his colleagues are already familiar with his record of leadership, legislative accomplishments, and broad political experience, his chances of becoming the Senate president are very good.
He declared, “Senators are responsible for handling the Senate Presidency issue. I’ve had the honor of serving the Senate in the past as the minority leader, and every senator should be willing to step up if his colleagues ask him to lead the Senate.
Since my colleagues are already aware of my record in terms of leadership, legislative accomplishments, and the breadth of my political experience, I have a very high chance of becoming Senate President.

There have been requests for the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership to zone the House of Representatives Speakership to the North Central or North-West and the Senate Presidency to the South-East or South-South.
A number of senators, including Jibrin Barau of Kano North, Sani Musa of Niger East, Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia North, Abdul-Aziz Yari of Zamfara West, Ali Ndume of Borno South, Osita Izunaso of Imo West, Dave Umahi of Ebonyi South, and Adams Oshiomhole of Edo North, will compete for the position of Senate President.
Along with Akpbaio, other APC leaders who paid Tinubu a visit included Senator Abdullahi Adamu, National Chairman of the ruling party, Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Biodun Oyebanji, and Senator Barau Jibrin.
Senators Olamilekan Adeola, Opeyemi Bamidele, Emmanuel Bwacha, Tokunbo Abiru, and Hon. James Faleke were party members present at Tinubu’s home as well.
