The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been asked by Senator Godswill Akpabio to rein in lawmakers who are speaking out against the candidates who have been anointed to lead the 10th National Assembly.
On Tuesday in Abuja, Akpabio led a group of 42 other Senators to meet with the party chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, and members of the National Working Committee (NWC). During this meeting, Akpabio made the request.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) allocated the positions of Senate President to Akpabio, Deputy Senate President to Barau Jibrin (Kano), Speaker of the House of Representatives to Abass Tajudeen (Kaduna), and Deputy Speaker to Ben Kalu (Abia).
Akpabio stated that the purpose of his visit to the national secretariat of the party was to express his gratitude and demonstrate his commitment to the endorsement.

The former governor of Akwa Ibom stated that it was appropriate to zone the presidency of the Senate to the South-South region because the South-South has not produced a Senate President since 1979.
A further revelation made by Akpabio was that he and his group would be traveling to the chairmen of various political parties in order to seek consultation and advice.
He gave his assurance that the 10th Assembly would put an end to poverty, insecurity, and joblessness “through legislations of supervision and strict oversight.”
