The troops of Operation Desert Sanity, also known as Operation Hadin Kai, are said to have ambushed suspected Boko Haram fighters, also known as Jam’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihd, killing six of them in an ambush.
Following credible intelligence, troops from the 73rd Battalion, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, conducted a successful ambush on Tuesday September 21, near Maiduguri, the restive capital of Borno State, resulting in the neutralisation of the terrorists.

According to an intelligence officer, the marauding terrorists were those fleeing massive military onslaughts in Boko Haram enclaves, according to Zagazola Makama, a Security Analyst and Counter Insurgency Expert in Lake Chad.
According to the source, they usually come to the area to terrorise farmers and sometimes kidnap them for ransom.
He stated that the troops had increased their offensives against terrorists, their collaborators, and logistics providers.
