Ohanaeze Lagos State Change Of Leadership

The new President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Sunday Ossai has authorized this official communication to Ndigbo in Lagos and beyond and to the general public, that following the constitutional expiration of the tenure of Chief Solomon Ogbonna; (the immediate past President) the following has taken place:-

This was contained in a press release issued by the publicity secretary Chief Mrs. Violet Uche Obiora (Onaedo) on the 24th of June 2022.

She went further to say,

1. That elections for the various state and local government offices have been done and concluded.

2. That having been sworn in as the new President, Chief Sunday Ossai has assumed the Leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos.

3. That the few issues arising from the conduct of local government elections in some places will be looked into.

4. That henceforth, Chief Solomon Ogbonna has ceased to be the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos.

5. That he appreciates the effort of Chief Solomon Ogbonna during his tenure and wishes him well in his future endeavors.

6. That whoever continues to honor the invite of Chief Solomon Ogbonna in his capacity as president is doing so at his own risk.

7. That any elected local government Chairman who honors the invite of Chief Solomon Ogbonna may be questioning the validity of his position, we pray the person has not resigned.

8. President Sunday Ossai appeals to Ndigbo in Lagos to remain calm and be law-abiding while going about their daily struggles for survival.

9. He acknowledges the fact that Ohanaeze is a work in progress that demands his best; while assuring that peace must surely be achieved.

10. He appeals to the conscience of the aggrieved to sheath their swords in the interest of peace for Ndigbo.

11. He extends a hand of fellowship to our brother and immediate past President, Chief Solomon Ogbonna to join him in contributing to the good of Ndigbo in Lagos.

12. Chief Sunday Ossai appreciates the contribution of everyone in electing him as the President; he will not let down the responsibility entrusted to him.
