On Christmas Day, robbers attacked Angwan Aku in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where they killed one person and kidnapped no less than 45 others.
A source claims that the incident happened as the victims were preparing to go to a church ceremony to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
The robbers arrived at the community in large numbers on motorcycles, where they stationed them along the road before entering the villages and opening fire.
The report claims that the bandits picked their victims as they went from house to house, taking 53 with them, although seven people managed to flee and one was slain by the time their operation was over.
The source emphasized that the bandits struck on Sunday, Christmas Day, about 10 am as Christians were getting ready for church services and that 45 of the locals are still held captive.
The state government and the state police command have not yet provided any official confirmation of the attack.
When reached, DSP Mohammed Jalige, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police, claimed to be unaware of the occurrence.
