Police arrest 77-year-old illegal gun manufacturer in Delta

A joint squad of police officers and vigilantes in Ozoro Community, Delta State, commanded by CSP Ogedengbe Areguamen, has apprehended Michael Enipozi, a 77-year-old gun runner, and Emma Ighodalo, 28, in the state.

Ighodalo was apprehended with one live cartridge, but two other members of his criminal organization escaped, according to the police.

The claim was corroborated by the Delta State Police Command in a statement signed by DSP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted that he threw his pistol away somewhere in the bush while running and that he purchased the said gun for the price of #30,000 from One Michael Enipozi,” he added.

“The suspect led the police to Irri village, where the said Michael Enipozi’m of Irri in Isoko south LGA, aged 77, was apprehended,” DSP Edafe added.

“He was found with three double-barrel firearms, two single-barrel guns, and various gun-making supplies.”

“A preliminary inquiry indicated that the 77-year-old suspect is a welder who manufactures firearms for criminals, and that he acknowledged selling the pistol to the suspect and that he has been in the business of manufacturing guns for the past twenty years.”

“A manhunt is underway for the other two escaping suspects.”
