Speaker Gbajabiamila hosts ex-lawmakers in a re-union

In what may be called a “family re-union”, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila hosted former members of the House of Representatives to a get-together party in Abuja The gathering afforded them the opportunity to unwind, re-connect, share memories and exchange pleasantries.
Addressing the former lawmakers , Gbajabiamila said it was gratifying to see the faces of the former members, most of whom I have not seen for a long time”.
The Speaker expressed his appreciation to them for finding time to attend the get-together and for their prayers and support to him over the years.
The gathering which was geared towards promoting friendship and comradeship witnessed the gathering of about five hundred former Legislators.
The former House members who were elated over the speaker’s initiative, praised him for being the first Speaker to have brought former members together for a reunion.
Speaking on behalf of former Lawmakers, Hon Jerry Ugokwe reiterated this was the first of it’s kind and thanked Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila for his hospitality and the great work he has been doing in saddling of the affairs of the 9th Assembly and defending the integrity of the House of Representatives.
He also thanked him for appointing over 50 former Honourable Members as Special Advisers and Consultants to the House of Representatives.
Special commendation was made for being the first Speaker to have created a Unit for former Members and also appointed a Special Assistant on Former Members Affairs.
In the words of Hon Ugokwe, “all these goes to show the love and value you place on your colleagues. We are very grateful “.
