Why We Support Obasa To Return As Speaker In 2023 – Lagos Lawmakers

Hon. Abiodun Tobun and Mojeed Fatai Adebola, both of whom are ranking members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, have made a commitment to work toward ensuring that Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa is re-elected to the position of Speaker of the House when a new legislative session begins in the year 2023.
Hon. Tobun and Fatai, representatives of Epe Constituency 1 and Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I respectively, said this in separate statements in which they further refuted a claim made by some bloggers that they were eyeing the seat of the headship of the Assembly.
The claim had been made that the two men were interested in the seat of the headship of the Assembly.
It is important to keep in mind that one of their colleagues, the Honorable Gbolahan Yishawu, has previously denied having any interest in the position of Speaker of the House.
Tobun said in his own statement that he had no reason to think in the direction of the speakership of the House, but that one of his major preoccupations remains to support the current occupier who had shown a mastery of legislative practice, thereby placing Lagos on the global parliamentary map.
Tobun’s statement came after Tobun had said that he had no reason to think in the direction of the speakership of the House.
The lawmaker stated that he was not aware of any such plans or consultations relating to matters of speakership ahead of 2023 and that he would never be a party to any move against the progress of the Lagos legislature. He added that he did not know of any such plans or consultations relating to matters of speakership after 2023.
“I am completely behind the ambitious ambitions and forward-thinking vision that Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has for both the legislature and the state as a whole.
I will wholeheartedly support any action that might get him closer to realizing his ambitions and goals.

According to the statement released by Tobun, “I will continue to support him and also offer my quota to any initiative that would assist him to realize his vision for the growth of the Lagos legislative and the state as a whole.”
While encouraging members of the public as well as the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to dismiss what he characterized as fake news, he added: “I, Abiodun Mustainu Tobun, formally disassociate myself from any report associating me to such schemes. I have nothing to do with them.”
“I am not aware of such nefarious moves, plots, or consultations related to matters regarding speakership, and I will never be a party to any conversation that is against the success and progress of the head of this legislature, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa,” she said. “I will never be a party to any conversation that is against the success and progress of the head of this legislature.”
He issued an appeal to individuals who were spreading the fake news to stop doing so because they would not succeed in the long run.
“We are more focused on our collective and individual accomplishments in the next general elections from that of the presidency to that of the State Houses of Assembly,” said one candidate.
Tobun stated, “I would want to use this opportunity to reconfirm my devotion to the ‘Speaking Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.”

While refuting the accusation, Fatai stated that he continued to have faith in the Speaker’s method of leadership, which he did while also denying the claim.
According to him, Rt. Hon. Obasa has continued to set a good example in the administration of the House, and as a result, he has to be supported in order to make Lagos more affluent.
He said that the Lagos State Assembly was the most peaceful in all of Nigeria, and he stressed that he would continue to concentrate on his primary responsibility of passing laws, as well as on ensuring that all candidates for the APC in Lagos State would be victorious in the election scheduled for 2023.
