Okechukwu Isiguzoro, a chieftain of the Igbo sociopolitical group Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has pleaded with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to give relief to Igbos who were attacked by political thugs during the most recent general election.
Following the victory of Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State during the most recent presidential and house of representatives election, some markets with a large Igbo population were set on fire and millions of dollars’ worth of goods were lost.
Isiguzoro, however, urged the governor to make up for the Igbos hurt by the attacks.

lsigusoro told reporters, “We support Sanwo-reelection Olu’s based on our consultation with APC governors in the Southeast and other Igbo leaders, among others. We will use the opportunity to donate N100 million to all Igbos who lost their homes, lives, or were assaulted so they can cover their medical expenses.
“We still want to urge Sanwo-Olu to help Igbo who have lost relatives, possessions, and businesses. We are demanding compensation for them, and the Lagos State government should provide palliatives. We have picked up the tab by giving N100 million to the Igbos, but we expect that the Lagos State governor, whose job it is to protect lives and property, will see to it that he aids the Igbos in calming the tension.
