Five students have narrowly escaped injury after a car smashed through a front yard and into two parked cars in Sydney’s west.
The car allegedly smashed through the front fence of a home on Clyde Street in South Granville about 1.25am today.
The driver allegedly hit two parked cars, which stopped him from ploughing through the house, NSW Police said.
“We were just cleaning our house… and suddenly someone just smashed his car into our (yard),” one of the students told 9News.
“It was very scary,” another said.
The five friends say they were getting ready for Eid when the collision happened.
The 23-year-old driver, identified as Emmanuel Biwot, allegedly tried to reverse out and drive off, but was stopped by the group of five, who took his car keys out of the ignition and called police.
NSW Police confirmed the driver was taken to Westmead Hospital with minor injuries, and will undergo mandatory testing.
The students used the cars for ride-share and food delivery jobs, and will not be able to work until they are fixed.
“It looks like as if a truck crashed into the car, but it was just a car, so you can imagine the (damage),” one student told 9News.
Police are still investigating the circumstances of the crash.
